With a commitment to relationships, Josh McWhorter, Founder and President of McWhorter Capital Partners, has emerged as a leader in the investment industry and built a business largely on client referrals. He has earned a strong reputation as an expert in his field who cares for his clients and for those around him.
After graduating from Furman University, Josh spent several successful years in the financial services industry before deciding to start his own firm. In 2009, he founded Black Oak Asset Management, a financial advising firm focused primarily on individuals nearing or in retirement and the 401(K) Market.
By basing his business on integrity and implementing the same principles that had brought him success in previous years, McWhorter’s firm stretch beyond the main location in Georgia to serve clients in twelve other states. He saw his business double from 2010 to 2011 and again from 2011 to 2012. This exponential growth enabled McWhorter to sell Black Oak Asset Management and transition to private real estate.
Always striving for more, Josh founded McWhorter Capital Partners, LLC (MCP) in July of 2013 with the mindset of "Purpose Driven Investments." MCP now holds and manages private equity, multiple sectors of real estate and large stake in the outdoor marketing space. Also under the McWhorter Capital Partners umbrella, Josh occasionally provides financial, sales and management consulting to local businesses.
Josh has appeared on CBS 46 and has been quoted in The Atlanta Journal Constitution, Wall Street Journal’s Smart Money, US News and World Report, and Market Watch. He was the keynote speaker at the Hugh O’Brian Leadership Conference at Georgia Southwestern State University and is often called upon for public speaking engagements centered on motivation, charitable giving and personal testimony. Most recently, Josh was featured on Fox News. McWhorter also co-authored “Outfront” which hit the “Best Sellers” list in 2012.
Josh and his wife, Vanessa, reside in Cartersville. They have two children: Lily, age 12 and Bear, age 10. Outside of work, Josh is a deacon at Cartersville First Baptist Church, coaches his son’s sports teams and enjoys playing golf when he has the opportunity.
Episode 65 of Spotlight Television, aired on February 10, 2018 nationally on Newsmax TV and in syndication on AMG Networks. Featured companies were Brighton Health Plan Solutions, iBasis, Travis Watkins, Curtis Cloke and TGT Stickers CEO Tim Tasker.
My wife often jokes that I have a one track mind. Once I set my mind to something, there is no going back. She is right. All my life if I truly wanted something I would stop at nothing to get it. (My wife included).
Although she says it is annoying sometimes, as my client it is your greatest asset. I am passionate about seeing that you get the best help possible, and I tenaciously represent your best interests. I know that the IRS can be abusive, manipulative and ruthless. They are the most powerful collection agency out there and I’m your best weapon. Let me tell you a little about who I am and how I got here.
I grew up in Bountiful, Utah. I graduated from Woods Cross High School in 1997. In 1998 I served as a volunteer service missionary for my church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, for two years. I served in the Netherlands, Amsterdam Mission, where I learned to speak fluent Dutch. Being a missionary basically means service 24 hours a day. It is there that I learned that I wanted to help people for the rest of my life.
My wife, Kellye, grew up in Salt Lake City. We met in February 2002 and after a short engagement we were married by October of that same year. I’ve always wanted to be an attorney, but my schooling was stop and go for a long time. We found out we were expecting a baby in December of 2005. When our first son, Tate, was born the doctor laid him in my arms and I knew right then and there that I had to do better for my son.
I remember clearly, I had been working at FedEx in their inside sales department at the time. It was a good job, but not great. I knew I needed to do something more. I looked over at my wife and said to her “I need to go back to school. I need to provide for this family.” And thus my motivation was born.
I immediately enrolled in school at Weber State University, graduating Cum Laude in 2008, and then attended Ave Maria School of Law where I received my Juris Doctorate in 2012. During all this schooling we welcomed 2 other boys into our family, Hayden in 2008, and Cole in 2011. My family is my motivator. I love them and thank them for always supporting and believing in me. We now live in Layton City, Utah.
While attending law school I discovered a passion for tax. It was strange, because many of my colleagues thought I was crazy, but it just made sense to me. I now understand why I enjoyed it so much, because it would become a part of my life in helping others who suffer the heavy hand of collection by the IRS. Upon graduation we moved to Oklahoma where I gained invaluable experience in tax problem representation.
After living in Oklahoma for about a year we decided that we wouldn’t be truly happy until we were back in Utah. In the summer of 2013 we came back to Utah and I gained further experience in dealing with the IRS while working with a local firm. That’s enough about me, let’s get down to the reason you are visiting this site: You are looking for relief from the sleepless nights, constant fear, and uncertainty that come with the burden of owing the IRS.
Read on for a better understanding of where you are, and where you can be. I explained that my wife accuses me of having a one-track mind, and fortunately for you she is right: All I can think about is helping you get past this difficult stage in your life. Let’s change your life for the better.

Whether you knew it or not – whether you grew up in Jackson Hole or never stepped foot in the valley – there’s a very good chance you’ve seen some of Tim Tasker’s work, or even a knockoff of one of his designs. In the mid-1990s, a few years after the British-born Tasker arrived in the valley by way of Pennsylvania, he designed the famous white oval JH sticker. The success of that sticker and many that followed made Tasker’s company, TGT Stickers (“The Sticker King”) a veritable empire, creating a powerful new retail niche along the way. In an interview with Planet Jackson Hole, 40-year-old Tasker, who has sold millions of stickers, talks about inspiration, his early success and where in the world some of those stickers have shown up.
Chabad of Mineola has become a popular center for Jews of all backgrounds who want to learn more about their Jewish roots. Located in Long Island, NY, Chabad offers a wide variety of educational and spiritual opportunities, including Torah classes and lectures, Shabbaton dinners, and an array of family and social activities. Traditional Jewish values are brought to life in a joyous, non-judgmental atmosphere.
Chabad serves all segments of the Jewish community. Everyone is welcome regardless of their personal level of religious observance. The philosophy is in keeping with the Chabad-Lubavitch approach of joy, scholarship and unconditional acceptance and love for every Jew.
Chabad is under the spiritual guidance of Rabbi Perl, a warm, caring and energetic individual, who formed the congregation many years back. Rabbi Perland his wife are emissaries of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson.
The services are traditional, and are conducted in a joyous, casual atmosphere. Children are included and most welcome. Many of those who attend cannot read Hebrew, yet everyone feels at home. The prayer book is bi-lingual and various English readings are included in the service. Song and commentary add meaning and participation to the prayers.
An important part of our community is the weekly Kiddush Luncheon that follows the Shabbat morning services, where friendships are created and nurtured and we celebrate each other's happy occasions and anniversaries.
